QuadTRACE Enhancement
Posted: Monday, November 13, 2006 12:06 PM (EST)

Re the point raised (by someone else) at the Conference, which I tried to clarify at the time;  I've solidified it into a suggestion to extend ŒTRACE:

Allow a left argument which can include negatives (besides a singular negative 1).

Remember the sign, and then take the floor of the absolute value of each.

For each non-comment line in the resulting integer set (including line 0), as the line is encountered, show the function name and line number, but do not show the end result of the line after the line is executed.

(The wording of this suggestion was made more complicated by the presently-allowed extension of negative 1 as a left argument)

Positive integers in the left argument would be treated as they presently are (full trace of result into session log).

This would keep the log terse, but allow quick setting of TRACE for flow analysis, including line 0.
