In APL+Win versions 5 and 6 (including the latest 6.4.01), enter the following on one line and press Enter.
a„2047½'*' ª „a ª „a ª „a ª „a ª „a ª „a ª „a ª „a ª '' ª „2046½'*'
After both lines have displayed, cursor up to the first line, Press End, then press Del (to attempt to attach the second line to the end of the first). APL unceremoniously crashes, with no error message.
Basically, APL+Win doesn't seem to like it at all if you attempt to type beyond the
16,383th column (¯1+2*14).
It's not like I spend time trying to coming up with such gems; this actually occurred for real today, and I lost my active workspace. The above is just a simplification of what I was actually doing in order to make it easy for you to replicate. I actually have a tool that displays large objects across the screen on one line.
By the way, the reason I didn't simply do „16383½'*' above is that „ has a limit of 2047 chars before it wraps.
