Hello,

I have been asked to develop an application that will run across the internet.  I am a bit unclear on the distinction between APL+WebServices and APL+WebComponents.  What does the one provide that the other does not?  Or, what type of requirements in the application would need me to use the one or the other (or both)?

Where can I find info about pricing for APL+WebComponents?  I understand that APL+WebServices is part of APL+Win.

Thanks,

Mike

I've never been too fond of these product names either - they're not easy to tell what they are/do.  But WebServices is a web server system, so that any code you want to write for your web site (beyond static HTML pages) is sent to your APL workspace for processing.  It works with or without IIS.  WebComponents is a different animal, allowing you to compile APL code into JavaScript so that it can be executed directly on a user's (IE) browser, without requiring an active server at all.  There are many pros and cons to each method, and selection should be based on what you need your application to do.

I have no idea - you'll have to talk to the APL2000 folks about that.
